MUSCAT: Jeet Shah will lead Oman’s cricket team at the ACC U19 Men’s Premier Cup 2025, which will be held in the UAE from 19 November-1 December.
Saumya Sampat has been named the vice‑captain.
The squad, a carefully balanced mix of experienced youth and promising cricketers, is set to make a strong impression under head coach Damith Warusavithana as Oman competes against some of Asia’s most talented emerging cricket nations in the 50-over format.
Oman’s campaign in the 14-nation tournament kicks off against Qatar on 21 November, followed by fixtures versus Japan on 24 November and Maldives on 26 November. All the games are scheduled for 9 am start, Oman time.
Besides Oman, Qatar, Japan and Maldives, who are pooled in Group C, the other competing teams are Nepal, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong (Group A), hosts UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain (Group B), Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Iran (Group D).
Coach Warusavithana said: "Over the past three months, the U19 squad has been training with great intensity and commitment. The players have shown exceptional dedication as we continue to develop and strengthen all aspects of our game — batting, bowling, fielding, and overall team strategy."
He added: "The U19 boys have started competing in the Intermediate Division of the domestic senior league, gaining valuable exposure and important learning experiences. Additionally, a few of our players are also playing in the Premier Division, earning more experience and confidence at a higher level of competition.
"We go into this tournament with high hopes, a clear plan and full confidence in our squad.”
Organised by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), the tournament serves as a key pathway for emerging cricket nations in Asia — offering competitive exposure, developmental opportunities and a chance to benchmark themselves against regional peers and a qualification to join the top teams in the U19 Asia Cup.
